LiDAR Scanner Demonstration
On May 28, 2025, Aptella Automation and Positioning Technology conducted a live demonstration of their advanced LiDAR scanners( LIXEL L2 and LIXEL Kity) for the faculty and research associates of the Geonics and GEAR Laboratory.




UP NISMED Interviews Dr. Chelo S. Pascua
On May 16, 2025, the University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED) conducted an interview with the Geonics Laboratory head Dr. Chelo S. Pascua, about the crucial role of soil in society.

Powder X-ray Diffraction Analyses and Interpretation Training
From April 2 to 4, 2025, Geonics Laboratory conducted a Powder X-ray Diffraction Analysis and Interpretation Training for six selected geologists from the Philippine Geothermal Production Company (PGPC) Inc., focusing on clay minerals and materials.



Geol 213: Photogeology and Remote Sensing
During the 2nd Semester of the Academic Year 2024-2025, Dr. Chelo S. Pascua, along with Dr. Mario A. Aurelio and Mr. Kit Stephen Agad, spearheaded the Geol 213 class. The course covered drone operation, flight path construction, orthomosaic creation, and 3D map modeling and printing.


NIGSCON 2024 Oral Presentation
On November 15, 2024, the PhD student of Geonics laboratory Jayson S. Cabral, presented their final output in Geol 274 entitled, "Potential role of grasslands in carbon capture and storage: A case study for San Jose Town, Tarlac Province." to the NIGSCON2024.



Demonstration and Turnover of Geologic Output to the LGU Balangiga
On February 6, 2025, NIGS Director Dr. Noelynna T. Ramos, Geonics Lab Head Dr. Chelo S. Pascua, and Mr. Herculito B. Caalim led a demonstration and turnover of the initial geological study results of the Balangiga River Watershed to the Local Government Unit of Balangiga, Eastern Samar, at the National Institute of Geological Sciences.

Geol 170 and Geol 215 Fieldwork in Balangiga, Eastern Samar
From July 7 to 23, 2024, Dr. Chelo S. Pascua, Dr. Robert Michael Difilippo, and NIGS Director Dr. Noelynna T. Ramos guided Geol 170 and Geol 215 students (Batch Midyear 2023-2024) in successfully conducting fieldwork in Balangiga, Eastern Samar.
